It’s just Twenty Bucks

I got my hair cut! While some of you are thinking “um ok and why is that a big deal?” Let me tell you. I don’t spend money on myself. Like ever. Between life expenses,  all the activities of my young ladies, and something unexpected ALWAYS popping up, the cash usually just isn’t there. So I think a lot (probably more than I should) about things I could but seemingly will never do. But that’s getting off topic. I was getting my hair did when the older couple comes in, they tell the receptionist what they need and have a seat. I’m lost in my head, most likely thinking about cows or my latest projects. I was quite possibly thinking about food. You never know. I heard him say to her, ” it will be alright.” That’s a curious thing to say… I listen a little closer… “I know. But you know we don’t need to spend the money on this.” He whispered “I know but there’s always a way.”

Decision made. I told my stylist I would cover whatever they needed. I didn’t ask their names, but from listening to them talk to the ladies in there they are very much in love. (It was super cute!) I have always thought the world could use more kindness and grace. Had I planned to spend it differently? You bet. But in that moment God put it on my heart to do something different. After all was just 20 bucks.

“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:5-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Blessings,

Brittney
